Nice antique law books here dealing with the laws passed in the State of South Carolina in 1870 – 1877 periods. We can therefore better control our acquisition costs, keep commission costs low (if applicable), and finally, we don’t have the overhead that the higher end houses and book shops pass on to their clients. The books were printed by the Republican Printing Company and Calvo & Patton Printers of Columbia, SC. Pages are still quite flexible, not brittle. Some ink writing and numbering in some of the books. The books were once part of the Maine State Library. The books’ pages are still well bound together. The front cover and rear covers are with the books, but not all are still attached to the rest of the book. The covers show some wear and tear from age. The pages some show some minor foxing/brown spotting in places, as would you if 140 plus years old. The pages are all intact from what we can ascertain. Some markings on the sides of the pages. Some pencil markings within the books. The 3 largest of the South Carolina law books are 9.25″ tall, by 6-1/8″ across, by. 75″ to 7/8″ wide. The smaller books are 9-1/16″ tall, by 5-13/16″ across, by 5/8 to. The books are each approximately 100 to 200 pages in length. There is a slight dusty and old tobacco smell to the books.
